Woman on Wheels

Brisbane has a very large population of female cyclists ranging from weekend social riders right through to some of the most competitive racing cyclists in Australia. If you are thinking you would like to fit somewhere in this scale, dont stress!! You dont have to ride that old mens bike thats ten sizes to big, rock hard saddle and rusted beyond recognition. Womens specific bicycles and components are are available. So if you're looking for anything WOMENS SPECIFIC, give us a call or email one of our cycling experts.

For women cyclists we will:

1. Firstly, measure your inseam, torso, arms, shoulders and feet - to see if you are one of the many women with body proportions different to men.

2. Discuss with you the type of cycling you want to do - now, and in the future. Then we'll look at whether you need a women's specific bicycle which a shorter frame length and a slightly more upright riding position.

3. Look at the need for specific women's components on the bicycle eg narrower handlebars with a shallow reach so that you can reach the brakes and gear levers easily - or perhaps a wider, more comfortable saddle.

4. Introduce you to the concept of clipless pedals - if you like you can try them out on a stationary trainer in the shop.

5. When your bicycle is ready, we'll take great care to fit you properly onto the bike, getting you pedalling under varying loads on a stationery trainer in the shop. This will make you as comfortable and efficient as possible on the bike.

6. After purchase, as you settle into your riding out on the road, we will stay in contact with you and may need to alter your position or change components on the bike eg fit a longer stem as your flexibility and confidence improves. This even includes trying different saddles on a ride free of charge until you find one which suits you.

7. Show you the different clothing options available for women - we stock by far the greatest range of women's clothing in Queensland.

8. Discuss what accessories eg pump, spares bag, gloves etc are available and the need for each one.

We're there to help and see that you genuinely enjoy your cycling - you don't have to put up with discomfort which most of the time can be easily fixed!
